In my 30+ years in practice, I have witnessed hundreds of couples discover new, relationship-changing perspectives about themselves and their partners. In Gottman language, couples learn to turn toward each other instead of away or against one another. To achieve this, we will work together to:
- process pain without re-litigating the past.
- replace hostile, dismissive and empty interactions with respect, compassion and attention.
- restore and discover playfulness, intimacy and connection.
Your work in session is foundational. Transferring the newly acquired skills and knowledge into your daily life is transformational. To do that, we will use action methods to facilitate faster behavioral change and achieve a deeper, more rooted, integration of what you learn in therapy.
Whatever your motivation for reading this, you're committed to doing something different with your relationship. I suggest you call 3 therapists and see where you feel most connected and whose style you think will best fit you and your partner. Then schedule an appointment. You wouldn't be looking at therapist bios unless it was time to take the next step.
So take it!
