Life transitions can shake even strong relationships. When kids leave home, when careers shift, or when retirement brings unexpected change, couples often find themselves feeling more like roommates than partners. The connection you once relied on feels distant, and it’s easy to wonder how to find your way back to each other.

As someone married for 34 years and a parent for 21, I understand how relationships evolve through these seasons. The empty nest, in particular, can magnify disconnection—silence where there was once laughter, distance where there used to be ease. It’s painful, but it can also be an opportunity for growth and renewal.

In therapy, we’ll use Gottman Method interventions to rebuild closeness, strengthen communication, and repair conflict. Our sessions will give you space to have the conversations you’ve been avoiding, to rediscover what you value in each other, and to create a vision for this next chapter. My approach is compassionate and direct—I’ll support you in easing the overwhelm when emotions run high and give you tools to move through what feels stuck.

My goal is for you to leave therapy with greater clarity, stronger trust, and the ability to navigate life’s changes together—not as two people living parallel lives, but as partners choosing each other again.
