Travis Atkinson, L.C.S.W., is the Founder + Director of the Loving at Your Best Plan, and the Director of the Schema Therapy Training Center of New York (STTC).
He has extensive training in marriage and couples therapy, based on more than 25 years in practice, with advanced certificates from top-rated couples therapy programs, including:
1. Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist (2006)
2. Certified Advanced Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer for Individual and Couples Therapy (2008)
3. Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor (2010)
Travis served on the Executive Board for the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) from 2014 until 2020 as Media Coordinator, and is a Founding Member of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NYCEFT).
Travis has trained therapists internationally for more than two decades, including Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Austria, and Scotland, in addition to the New England Educational Institute in Cape Cod and multiple trainings in New York.
Travis is co-author of the latest schema mode therapy inventory (SMI.1.1). He is the author of “Schema Therapy for Couples: Healing Partners in a Relationship” in the Handbook of Schema Therapy (Wiley-Blackwell, 2012) and the co-author of the "Introduction" and "Healing Couples" chapters from Creative Methods in Schema Therapy (Routledge: 2020).
Travis holds graduate degrees from New York University, with a Masters in Clinical Social Work (1995) and a Masters of Science in Management (1996).
