One of you has seen the trouble for years. Read the books. Named the pattern. Tried to be heard. The other solves hard problems all day, and everyone else's problems get solved. Home is the exception.

Now the arguments are giving way to silence. One of you is afraid of losing this. The other is worn out from trying to save it. Knowing the pattern hasn't changed it, and that gap is where my work begins.

I start with a thorough Gottman assessment, so we map where you get stuck before we try to change it. It shows what sits underneath the fight, the old sensitivities each of you brought in, and where the cycle catches. From there we work on those moments: how to say what hurts, and how to stay in the room when it's hard. Repair that holds.

The one who has been carrying this stops carrying it alone. The one who went quiet finds a way back in.

I've been a Certified Gottman Therapist since 2006 and spent eight years at The Gottman Institute. I'm also a Certified EFT Couples Therapist and Supervisor, and a Certified Schema Therapy for Couples Therapist, Supervisor, and Trainer. With Dr. Jeffrey Young, I co-developed Schema Therapy for Couples.

Online sessions that continue when you go north for the summer, as long as you're in New York, Florida, Connecticut, or Vermont when we meet.
