About

I am a psychotherapist working with couples, and I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. My training is in the Gottman Method at Level 3, alongside Jungian psychoanalytic psychotherapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I have practised for more than a decade, in Japan and in Australia.

That history shapes the work. Much of my practice is with couples living between countries and languages: partners of different nationalities, families formed across cultures, and couples whose working lives have moved them from one country to another. What is often described as a communication problem in these relationships is usually a difference in what each person learned, long before they met, about how closeness is shown and what may be asked for.

I see couples in two settings. Therapy Atelier is my private couples practice in Mornington, on the Mornington Peninsula, working in person and online across Australia. BeyondBleu is my international practice, which began in Tokyo and now works largely online with English-speaking and intercultural couples in Japan and elsewhere. Sessions are held in English and in Japanese.

The work is depth-informed. We begin with a structured look at what actually happens between you, and then take the time to understand why these two people in particular have arrived here. Much of what a couple does under strain was learned long before they met.

Sessions run for ninety minutes rather than fifty. Alongside weekly work I offer three-day and five-day couples intensives, arranged privately, which suit couples travelling to see me or wanting to reach clarity within a defined period rather than over many months.
