I am a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist who is attentive to your goals. I have advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am also a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator. This makes me a great fit for new and expecting parents looking to maintain or strengthen their relationship during the transition to parenthood. I also am skilled in working with premarital and newlywed couples, betrayal and infidelity, couples who have experienced trauma or loss, or are seeking more closeness and improved communication.
I obtained my master’s degree from the University of San Diego and worked in San Diego agencies with issues of loss, trauma, homelessness, and healthy relationships prior to focusing on working with couples in private practice. I chose to pursue training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy because of the extensive body of research which supports it and my belief that it is important for couples work to have structure, direction, and concrete tools. I also am trained in EMDR, a research-based therapy that facilitates the brain's own capacity to heal and overcome trauma or blocks.
What sets me apart from other therapists is my motivation and commitment to clients. I am highly invested in my work and put a lot of thought into how to meet the needs and strengthen the relationships of the couples I work with, and seek fresh knowledge and ideas often. I love being a therapist because it allows me to use my natural strengths of being empathic, a great listener, and a passion for helping others. My approach is attuned, caring, and honest. I pay attention to keeping couple’s sessions feeling balanced and helping clients build a toolkit that they can continue to access long after our therapy is complete.
I am interested in hearing about each couple’s unique situation and discussing if I am a good fit to help. I will gladly offer a free phone consultation to discuss your needs.
