Welcome! I provide a safe, respectful environment, using science and values to heal hurting hearts and relationships. Marriage, family and individual therapy available. My Master’s degree is in Mental Health Counseling; PhD is in Family Psychology; commissioned in Lay Pastoral Ministry in 2005. Dually licensed in both mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy in Florida. My training includes Level 1 and 2 trainings in Gottman Method Couple Therapy. I am fortunate to be able to help individuals, couples and families overcome difficulties. Anxiety, depression, family issues, parenting, and other life problems can be healed; relationships can grow strong again. Trust, friendship, communication and a shared mission as a couple are essential parts of a joyful relationship, and are aspects that can be enriched through counseling and related “homework.”
Homework? Yes! Rather than have clients feel dependent on the counselor, or as if therapy may never end, my preferred approach is to use each session as a combination of counseling and coaching, with clients departing with specific plans to work on the relationship between sessions. You wouldn’t work with a personal trainer without working out between sessions, and counseling works the same way.
I practice in two locations: Safety Harbor, FL and Seminole, FL.
Besides my private practice, I teach graduate courses in counseling and psychology. I am an on-air commentator for mental health and family concerns for Spirit FM 90.5, and am American Thought Editor and regular contributor to USA Today Magazine. Volunteer activities include grief ministry, workshops on grief, parenting and relationships for school and faith-based organizations.
In 2019, my husband and I look forward to celebrating 35 years of marriage. I treasure my family, and rejoice in being a mom and “Nana.” I enjoy my family, reading, art, writing, and being outdoors in beautiful Florida.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I work with adults, teens and children. Couples, families and individuals.
